The Irish Australian Welfare Bureau and Resource Centre NSW Inc, (IAWB) was incorporate on 22 May 1995.

It is an organization based in Sydney to serve the welfare needs of the Irish community in New South Wales

The IAWB was founded in 1995 by a Tipperary man, Frank O’Donoghue, who with a generous heart identified a great need within the Irish Community.  Frank formed a group of volunteers to address the plight of the elderly Irish population and the ever growing numbers of young visitors, students and back packers to Australia.  It was soon discovered by this group that the needs of the Irish community called for a much broader range of services. What a debt of gratitude is owed to Frank for having the foresight to begin this organization!

From the humble beginnings the IAWB has grown and developed into a vital and important group within this community.

The demands on the IAWB increased so much that it was necessary for the organization to get it’s own offices into which we moved on 1 June 2006.  The premises were officially opened on 20 September 2006 by Mr Michael Ahern, T.D., Minister for Trade and Commerce, Ireland.

The IAWB is a non-profit organization
